Texas police officer shot close to ICE detention middle as Trump officers promise zero tolerance

The Trump administration is taking a “zero tolerance” strategy to assaults on regulation enforcement after a Texas police officer was shot outdoors a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention middle.

The message got here after related incidents in different cities amid backlash in opposition to President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement company. 

An Alvarado, Texas, police officer was shot Friday night time close to the Prairieland Detention Facility, authorities stated.

“We’re carefully monitoring the assaults on DHS detention services in Prairieland, TX, and Portland, OR, and are coordinating with the [US Attorney offices] and our regulation enforcement companions,” stated Deputy Lawyer Basic Todd Blanche on X.

“The Division [of Justice] has zero tolerance for assaults on federal officers or property and can convey the complete weight of the regulation in opposition to these accountable,” he added.

In Alvarado, a suburb of Fort Price, a number of suspects have been arrested after an officer with the Alvarado Police Division was shot at round 11 p.m. whereas responding to reviews of a suspicious individual, FOX Dallas reported. 

When the officer tried making contact with the individual, photographs have been fired and the officer was struck within the neck. 

The officer was flown to a Fort Price hospital for remedy and was later launched.

A number of armed suspects fled however have been arrested with the assistance of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Workplace and different authorities, the information station reported.
