China has protested to India over birthday greetings despatched to the Dalai Lama by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“India ought to totally recognize the good sensitivity of Tibet-related points, recognise the separatist nature, honour the commitments it has made to China associated to Tibet-related points, and act prudently, and cease utilizing these points to meddle in China’s inner affairs,” Chinese language international ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stated on Monday afternoon.

She added that Beijing had lodged a protest with New Delhi.

On Sunday – the birthday of the 14th Dalai Lama, who’s the exiled non secular chief of Tibet – Modi posted on social media: “I be part of 1.4 billion Indians in extending our warmest needs to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his ninetieth birthday.”
