The Chinese language army carried out patrols within the South China Sea on Saturday, because the Philippines and Japan held a joint drill within the disputed waters.
China’s Individuals’s Liberation Military joint sea and air patrols have been carried out by the Southern Theatre Command, its spokesman Senior Colonel Tian Junli stated in a press release on Sunday.
The PLA patrols have been a response to the Philippines-Japan joint maritime drills – their second since August – which Tian known as a menace to regional peace.
“The Philippines has been courting nations exterior the area to conduct so-called joint patrols, elevating safety dangers within the South China Sea and undermining regional peace and stability,” Tian stated within the assertion.
He stated PLA Southern Theatre Command troops would “stay on excessive alert” to safeguard China’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.
“Any army actions that fire up hassle or create flashpoints within the South China Sea are totally below management,” he stated.
