Quick bowler Jofra Archer has been added to England’s squad for the second check towards India beginning on July 2 at Edgbaston, the nation’s cricket board (ECB) stated on Thursday.
The 30-year-old returns to England’s check set-up for the primary time because the 2021 tour of India, following a prolonged absence attributable to a recurring elbow challenge and again stress fracture.
Archer, who has taken 42 wickets in 13 assessments, made his first look in a first-class match in 4 years on Sunday within the County Championship with Sussex.
The pacer’s inclusion marks the one change within the England squad that secured an exciting five-wicket victory towards India at Headingley on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead within the five-match sequence.
